Millennia
by Olivia Hicks
Millennia, like stars,
transcend through time and space
Into orbit. A primeval world came in to being,
A natural selection and order.
Rocks formed and seas roared
and the land
Became a home for may species.
Dinosaurs danced and fishes flowed with ferocity
And gentleness as their time was given.
Sun and moon, in solar
silence, a luminous light
In balance, sustaining the earth.
Man appeared and found
his gods through free will and intelligence
Bestowed through the great evolutionary path.
A special start shines
brightly,
Two thousand years ago, through a Divine Being.
God gave us the planet
to care for and love.
Conceptual minds have, through ages and aeons
searched
For wisdom and truth, through suffering, to find
The philosopher's stone.
We hold our hands out to Nature and her many gifts.
The momentum of this last
century
Has encompassed the whole of creation.
Our privileged human life is our own universe
Which will perpetuate new seeds into future generations.
Will the trees grow? Will
winds blow?
Will children sing? Will bells ring?
We will only peep in to
the next millennium
When new memories will be born, while the soul
Wears searching wings in our supernatural realms
Of light and darkness.
Music of the spheres will
play on until the great supernova
Concludes its natural order.
